My Dear Teacher;

I have your letter of 12thEditorial Note: See L01602 by kindness of Mr. Tomlinson.

If Miss Chamberlain can do this literary work for me I shall be delighted to have her. Otherwise I think I will try Mr. McKenzie. I visited Mr. Wiggin some time ago concerning a lecture delivered here in which he said some unkind things about you and while he was kind to me he criticised some of your English called you a very ignorant woman and declared that there was nothing in Christian Science. For this reason I prefer to have someoneAs Written:some one else, if I can.

I inclose with this a clipping from today'sAs Written:to day's Sunday Herald. So far as I know they have published this of their own accord. There is surely a great change in the Boston press.

I have required four of the daily papers to correct two false reports of deathsEditorial Note: The January 9, 1900, issue of the Boston Globe contained a corrective statement by Alfred Farlow titled, "Christian Scientists do not deny anyone perfect freedom." The January 11, 1900, issue contained a statement by Farlow titled "Martsolf Family at New Brighton are 'Free Presbyterians'." In both of these cases, earlier newspaper reports had falsely stated that Christian Science was responsible in the deaths of the individuals concerned. Farlow had discovered that Christian Science was not involved in either case. within the past week. At each time I had a satisfactory talk with them. If I do not convert them to ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science, I hope to at least convert them to justice.

My replyEditorial Note: Farlow's reply to the Boston Herald, providing a statement about the beliefs and practices of Christian Scientists, was reprinted in the January 7, 1900, issue of the Kansas City Times. to the editorial in the Boston Herald was copied into the Kansas CityAs Written:Kas.
