My precious Teacher

It seems so long since I have any news from the College & yet the Journel bore good & interesting tidings– We are still jogging along working patiently and not without fruits I assure you. though we are never quite satisfied As Written: satisfyed but long to do more and better work – I started another class of six last Monday lovely Ladies As Written: Lady's and one gentleman- All of whom but one I have had as patients and healed –

I told them without a single one promised for my class I should start it Monday at 2 o'clock – All wanted to study As Written: studdy but of course numerous and various were their excuses – So I said nothing – but mentally booked them all – and I continued steadfastly to hold over them the banner of LoveSong 2:4 He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love. – taking up their various mountains that keep them from laying up their treasure in HeavenMatt 6:19 ¶Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: Matt 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: Matt 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. – & I arranged everything As Written: every-thing without the assurance of a single one & don't you think six walked in with smiling happy faces and we have had an interesting – joyous work of it the past week – Surely the bow bends all things to reason, and I know when we work hopefully, prayerfully & conscientiously in the Master's vineyardMatt 20:1 For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard. Matt 20:2 And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard. Matt 20:3 And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, Matt 20:4 And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way. Matt 20:5 Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise. Matt 20:6 And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle? Matt 20:7 They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive. Matt 20:8 So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first. Matt 20:9 And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny. Matt 20:10 But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny. Matt 20:11 And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house, Matt 20:12 Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day. Matt 20:13 But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny? Matt 20:14 Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee. Matt 20:15 Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good? Matt 20:16 So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen. our reward is sweet– Besides my class, have accomplished some very quick healing & my forenoons As Written: forenoon's are full of patients and afternoons As Written: afternoon's class – So am bringing in my sheavesPs 126:6 He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him. slowly – Was urged to take a very serious case in belief Drs As Written: Dr's had given up & could do no more – She called a ScientistEditorial Note: Christian Scientist had her a few days took a great dislike, discharged her grew worse – So when I went I had this to work through and allay the prejudice of the family – In one week I had her up in her chair & eating heartily after being confined to bed & seriously ill three months – and last week she drove to see me – & how she is driving – enjoying herselfAs Written:her-self & it has made a great stir in the fashionable circles – & I have heard they are talking for ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science everywhereAs Written:every-where – Was persuaded to go out to WaukeganEditorial Note: Waukegan, Illinois – fifty miles from ChicagoAs Written:C. to visit a beautiful girl lying ill with belief of consumptionEditorial Note: tuberculosis – It is hard for me to go off in this way– but the reward comes – Her Physician As Written: Phycisan was present I dined with him – He was at first wrathy & pert - & impolite – A patient I healed talked with him while I treated the case – He said to her he didn't care if they brought the devil there As Written: thire so the girl was cured"– My friend remarked they had tried As Written: tryed the devil's works to no effect & concluded to try the Truth awhile- He said very sarcastially he hoped they would succeed" – After I treated her – they brought him in & introduced him – He scanned me fully & I think he expected to see some coarse woman's rights woman – He shrunk back as he scrutinized & I treated him with gentleness. He said to me Mrs. Eddy did not teach her Students to diagnose cases & made a great many stirring comments on Bible et ceteraAs Written:&c – Said I sir Dr- I beg your pardon – I did not want your case – but if you were not so ignorant as to the contents of your Bible – you could have healed this case & no need of my coming out here – but sir – said I in consequence of this ignorance of a subject so vast & sacred As Written: sacrad I beg you to excuse me if I decline to discuss the questions of science with you and recommend As Written: reccommend you to study As Written: studdy carefully Science & HealthEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy and then open the lids of your much-neglectedAs Written:much neglected Bible & study As Written: studdy it – and then Dr- you too will be able to diagnose & heal - where you now are failing – And for the present all I will say to you on the subject is – that I will lay this young girl in the Ark of Safety until she is healed and will just take you along with her also- and will say Mrs. Eddy does not only teach us to diagnose sickness but sin also and from your manner & conversation to me I can diagnose your case as easily as hers & would you like to hear it–?
