Editorial Title: Oscar R. Hammond to Mary Baker Eddy, October 16, 1883
Author: Oscar R. Hammond
Recipient: Mary Baker Eddy
Date: October 16, 1883
Manuscript Description: Handwritten by Oscar R. Hammond on lined paper from North Troy, Vermont.
Editorial Note: Hammond tells Mary Baker Eddy that he has learned of Christian Science and obtained her books. Using what he has learned, he has nearly been cured of asthma, a condition he has had since birth. He has been a deep student of the Bible since he was 15 and he has come to the realization that he can never preach until he is able to heal the sick. Hammond has also studied the subject of mental influence. He has a cousin who is dying of tuberculosis, but the family is unwilling to try Christian Science. He asks Eddy for suggestions or to heal his cousin herself. She will be paid well if she can do this. He hopes that Eddy will reply soon, before it is too late for his cousin.
