Accession: 114.22.002
Editorial Title: Ellen L. Clarke to Mary Baker Eddy, June 8, 1882
Author: Ellen L. Clarke
Recipient: Mary Baker Eddy
Date: June 8, 1882
Manuscript Description: Handwritten by Ellen L. Clarke on lined paper and likely sent from Dorchester, Massachusetts.
Editorial Note: Clarke learned of Asa Gilbert Eddy's death by seeing it reported in a Springfield, Massachusetts, newspaper that she picked up while waiting at a depot. Her heart bleeds for Mary Baker Eddy and she asks what she can say to comfort Eddy at this time. Her thoughts have been with Eddy ever since, and the only thing that has calmed her is the thought that Eddy is so far beyond her spiritually that comfort must come to Eddy. Clarke speaks of all that Eddy has done for others. Nothing can harm her and brighter days will be ahead. God will care for her and is an ever present help. Clarke's heart is full of sympathy and love for Eddy.
