Editorial Title: Lucinda M. Reeves to Mary Baker Eddy, November 16, 1881
Author: Lucinda M. Reeves
Recipient: Mary Baker Eddy
Date: November 16, 1881
Manuscript Description: Handwritten by Lucinda M. Reeves on lined paper from Washington, D.C.
Editorial Note: Reeves thanks Eddy for the words of caution and counsel in her recent letter (not extant). She writes about some challenges she is having with her patients. She says they are all "old chronic beliefs," and she feels like she is dealing with the beliefs not only of her patients, but all their family and friends as well. She says that many of their friends feel that the weather needs to get better before the patients can improve. Whenever she feels doubt, Reeves says she turns to the "key-note" (what she describes is "the scientific statement of beingMary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures468:8Question. — What is the scientific statement of being?

stance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite
manifestation, for God is All-in-all. Spirit is immortal

" from Science and Health). She asks if there is anything else she can do that would be better. She writes of one of her patients who is improving: a young man with consumption who had given up medicine. Reeves then turns to some questions about the Eddys visiting Washington, D.C. She asks when Eddy will come and how many rooms she will need, as Reeves would like Eddy to stay with her, if possible, although her place is not very big. She writes that she went to hear Thomas Gales Foster, a lecturer on spiritualism, and she thought that his discourse had "more Science than ism in it." Reeves mentions that they are once again having pleasant weather, and she tells Eddy that if there's anything she can do for her, to please let her know.
