Editorial Note: Bass replies to a letter he received from his practitioner, Asa Gilbert Eddy. In the letter, Eddy asked Bass about his habits and if he is temperate. Bass replies that he used to drink alcohol but doesn't now. He eats good food in moderation. He uses tobacco, which was prescribed for him by a physician when he was 15 years old as a treatment for asthma. He gets sufficient sleep. He tells Eddy that he will take his suggestions to heart.
