My dear Teacher:—

I want to thank you for the honor of being made a First member of your Church. I know the step means more responsibility and demands of me a better life, but when Mother says "go up higher,Luke 14:10 But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee. " I am sure God will help me, and my feet will never slidePs 66:9 Which holdeth our soul in life, and suffereth not our feet to be moved. Ps 94:18 When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O Lord, held me up. Ps 121:3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. if I follow your instructions faithfully, and I shall find the "burdens are not grievous to be born"I John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. that come from a heart filled to overflowing with love and untiring patience for everyoneAs Written:every one that tries to do right; and even though we come so far short of the high calling, you are always ready with a loving rebuke that never fails to lift above the wave every one that lays hold of your ever stretched out handMatt 14:22 ¶And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. Matt 14:23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone. Matt 14:24 But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. Matt 14:25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. Matt 14:26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. Matt 14:27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. Matt 14:28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. Matt 14:29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. Matt 14:30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. Matt 14:31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? Matt 14:32 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. .

I make many good resolutions and keep some of them, I mean to keep the one that will answer your "prayer for James."Editorial Note: See L03523.

I want to tell you of three mutual friends and members of the Park Street ChurchEditorial Note: Park Street Congregational Church, founded in 1809, is a historic and active evangelical congregational church in Boston, Massachusetts., on Saturday Dec 26 two of them, both in good health, were taken with Pneumonia, one employed a Physician and council; the other with fear and trembling sent for me, the third party visited both - and said my patient was in the most critical condition. on Jany 5th ten days after the call I dismissed my patient perfectly well, the same day the other one who resorted to medicine for help was buried, the example seems to be waking some of the members of that church out of their sleep, especially those who took an active part in trying to have my patient employ a regular M. D., the third party came to me yesterday for treatment.

Last week a lady teacher in the public schools came for treatment for granulated eye lids, one treatment completed a perfect cure.

I have other good cases, and some others not so good.

I have not seen Rev. Edward Everett Hale the second time, but he said again recently that he hoped soon to have an interview.

Helen M Winslow the authoress is working earnestly for our causeEditorial Note: The cause of Christian Science., she said in a letter last week that she could successfully meet and overcome little temptations with Divine help.

Doctor Marden another author is calling some good people to hear of and believe your good works.

Mr. Husted- Treasurer of the Boston University is speaking with much conviction to men in his line.

and your little one is praying for wisdom and strength to meet these seekers, and to give them an inkling of what you have in store for us all

Ever
Your Loving
James.
