My dear Teacher:–

I send across country today by Mr. J. H. Thompson, a student of Science & HealthEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, the pair of horses I have selected with the hope that your present need may be met. I have found it exceedingly difficult to find horses that will bear critical examination in all points, these are not just what I wanted to get, they are not as well mated as I had hoped and still hope to find, but those qualities you most need they have.

I have found them very kind, for a few days they noticed City sights, but now I can stand them by the curbing in a narrow street and they will stand with loose line while the electrics go by them either way.

Have driven them astride newspapersAs Written:news papers, by barrels, boxes, barking dogs etc and they never leave the straight road– never shy. They do not love steamrollersAs Written:steam rollers, but I have driven them all about them every time I can find one in operation, and one not in operation they went up to and smelled about its wheels- the most they do is to put their heads up and try to look scared- I have driven them under and over moving trains with practically loose reins.

If they do not prove satisfactory I will send for them at any time, and continue the search until the right ones are found, the best will but feebly express the love and gratitude I have for you.

Your loving student.
