My Dear Teacher.

Have just returned from a short visit to San FranciscoEditorial Note: San Francisco, California and OaklandEditorial Note: Oakland, California, looking after a prospective class. Was quite surprised to learn Mrs Adams had returned and of course called on her. I hope her Institute will be a great help to Christian Science on this coast. - found she was to have one of my promised students, a lovely lady of wealth and social position and so, capable of doing much good for ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science.

I go back to San Francisco day after tomorrow and remain awhile, There seems to be quite an opening for me there just now and I have overcome most of my fear to work in that place, and shall attempt to raise the standard of Christian ScienceAs Written:C.S. The thought of the need of a Christian Science Institute there presses itself hard upon me but what can I do? Would it be proper for me to establish one there since I have one here? I could have two able assistants there and vibrate between the two places in an hour and a half, but it looks very greedy and I do not know how to desert San Jose. Still, I am quite convinced that work done in San Fran. will count much more than in San Jose. I wish I might have a word of advice from you as to what may be done about an Institute. So many people when they hear of me say Why did you not advertise your business or Institute in the paper so I could have heard of you before. The idea prevails here that everythingAs Written:every thing should be advertised in the newspaper. But I have not yet being under the impression it was not considered the proper way by ChristianAs Written:C. Scientists.

Just receivedAs Written:rec'd a letter As Written: leter from a lady near Portland Oregon saying The subject of C.S. Mind healingAs Written:Mindhealing has been brought to my notice by the work of Mrs. Root,— and again "– have been reading Mrs. Eddy's work Science and HealthEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy and trying earnestly to comprehend its teachings" The daughter of a methodist minister, Mrs Root's name seems to have become almost a household word, though many confess her instruction has taught them little or nothing, The mind-curers in San FranciscoAs Written:S.F. name matter Spirit and Mind, and upon that statement base their teaching and healing (?)

I want so much to attend the National Convention or Association and go through the Normal class again.

Please address me at San Jose as usual.

Your loving student
Sue E. Bradshaw.

P.S. My Mother will take charge of my practice in my absence and I have great confidence in her ability as a healer. S. B.
