I am just in receipt of your communicationEditorial Note: This communication is not extant., and a more dumbstrickenAs Written:dumb stricken man you never saw. A babe just born was never more unconsciously innocent of your charge of injustice to you, than I am, and to threaten me with legal proceedings if I reprint the articleEditorial Note: This is a reference to an article on Christian Science written by Joseph A. Adams and published in the Chicago Inter-Ocean. (as it is) which was written in defense of you and the CauseEditorial Note: The cause of Christian Science of which you have been the honored instrument of resurrecting from the dead past, has produced in me a sorrow that no words can adequately express. You surely could not have read the article yourself, or you would have seen my reference to your bookEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, and every whole sentence taken from it in quotation marks- If omitted in any instance it must have been the oversight of the Printer. No one can detest injustice more than I do or more carefully avoid the appropriation of another's property As Written: properity than myself. I certainly thought of reprinting the article as the demand for it is great, and I thought of asking you to furnish me with a brief preface to it, in which I shall only be too delighted to have you recognize me as your student. My joy will be to reflect the light you have been instrumental in giving me, but your last letter would have extinguished it, if I did not know that Christian Science was Truth-

I am still your devoted but deeply sorrowing student
Joseph Adams.
