I receivedAs Written:rec'd todayAs Written:to day a notice from Am Express of arrival of books, and $60.00Editorial Note: $60.00 in 1884 is the equivalent of $1919.48 in 2024. collection, also a letter from Dr Frye.
There is evidently a mistake, I was only to act as your AgentAs Written:Ag't to introduce the booksEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, through the bookstoresAs Written:book stores, and after that they were to order from, and deal with you direct. I did not wish to speculate in the books, wished no pecuniary profit from them. The dozen Set I received, for my own use, you said I could have at the regular discount, three set of that dozen were sent to Mrs Silsbee, one set you send for the Public Library, and one dozen set for bookstoresAs Written:book stores, which was considered enough to start with. I expected to send the cash for the dozen set I take, but not the others. I can do so of course if you prefer but we thought best the stores should settle with you direct, after I had made arrangements with them.
Of all things I am not used to, is "Cash On DeliveryAs Written:C O D" way of doing, it makes a needless expense and it is more pleasant to send a Draft, & save Collection charges.
The Express CompanyAs Written:Co- say you can leave directions at the office in BostonEditorial Note: Boston, Massachusetts what to do, and they can direct the Office here. If you prefer me to pay the Express Co. the whole AmountAs Written:Am't, telegraph me, or if you say for me to send you the money for the dozen set I use; direct the Express CompanyAs Written:Exp- Co, and they can telegraph orders here to deliver the books. I regret the mistake, for it causes a delay in my actions. However I know it will come out all right.
I have received numerous calls for books. I have a suggestion to make in relation to the AdvertisementsAs Written:A'ds, and will do so tomorrow.
