Manuscript Description: Handwritten by Silas J. Sawyer on the printed stationery of his dental practice, from
Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Editorial Note: Sawyer is ashamed to report to Mary Baker Eddy that he has thus far failed to heal
his patient, Charles M. Briggs. He gives detailed descriptions of Briggs' symptoms and of how he has been giving
Christian Science treatment through prayer to the case. He asks if Eddy will give
him advice about the case. Sawyer ends the letter by giving Eddy an update on his
efforts to get bookstores in the area to distribute her book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.
