Last night Mr- AikenEditorial Note: Edwin J. Aiken (1849-1925) was a Congregational clergyman who was pastor of the Pittsfield, New Hampshire, Congregational church from 1877 to 1881, and the East Congregational church in Concord, New Hampshire, from 1885 until 1893. In 1910 he was a delegate representing the American Bible Society to the World Missionary Conference in Edinburgh, Scotland. Aiken was the secretary of the New Hampshire Bible Society from 1898 until 1912 and authored a book entitled The First Hundred Years of the New Hampshire Bible Society, 1812-1912, documenting the organization’s history of Bible distribution throughout the state.` of the Bible Society here, handed me these two volumes– Had the 1st VolumeAs Written:Vol– but had not seen the secondAs Written:IId - which is just issued– I turned to two or three of my favorite passages, and read them once over – Have marked the particularly striking passages– I believe thee will enjoy reading the same– The Salvation army man, was delighted with his visit to thee, and esteemed it as a privilege — he said thee was the most lovely & beautiful woman he had ever seen, & that he could do much good for thee by being able to say how young & fair thee looked– This reminds me I never saw thee look so young and beautiful, as when thee was reading the Christmas gem - the other night—.
