The young Lady Miss Cole was at a Spiritualist lecture recently and the Lecturer a Mrs. or Miss Cora Richmond it appears is quite widely known here and the House was packed – the Audience have the privilege of asking questions and someone As Written:some one asked is the method of healing taught by Mrs Eddy of Boston divine? The reply was that all healing Spiritualistic Magnetic or whatever the method must be divine when there was no material means employed – I was pleased that the answer was as favorable from one who knew nothing of the ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science

There is a German Gentleman of high Culture a Physician here who stumbled across a set As Written: sett of your BooksEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures at a second hand store and became so greatly interested that he wrote a long article for the medical journal extolling the merits of it as far as he could gather them from the Book but he concluded it was rather severe on the Faculty and did not send it for publication – a Patient of mine who knows him related this to me and he is trying to have him come and see me and I shall try and get the article and send it to you –

My BusinessEditorial Note: This is a reference to Noyes’ work as a Christian Science practitioner (healer). does not come in good at all I was gone so long my Patients lost interest and then I suppose they are freighted down with Laws that they will not come because I have been to the College and am trying to do something for the CauseEditorial Note: Christian Science I am delving away trying to break them I think I must have received As Written: recieved some help from you as my courage is quite good notwithstanding the depression in my Business If I can once get another start here I know I will be all right with my increased knowledge –

I have seen Miss Brown once since my return – She has come back from Toledo when she was three weeks she did not take one dollarEditorial Note: $1 in 1884 is equivalent to $27.69 in 2017. and was glad to come As Written: Com back to Chicago I think she made a mistake to come back just when she might have expected a return from her efforts unfortunately for her she does not make Friends – When you write to her if you please do not speak of me for I am tired of her and do not want to be brought in Contact with her she pretends to be Friendly although she tried every possible way to get my rooms while I was gone and by continually telling them I would not return I am settled about four miles from her. I hope I shall have no more occasions to allude to her as it is extremely disagreeable to me –
