Editorial Note: In this letter, Spofford gives Mary Baker Eddy an account of the sales of her book,
Science and Health, and discusses her attitude toward him. The letter reflects bad feelings between
Spofford and Eddy and her husband, Asa Gilbert Eddy. Spofford ends the letter by saying that he hopes that Eddy will sometime have a
better opinion of him than she does now and that she will not regret taking him as
a student.
