You will see by the report sent that there were 338 books on hand Jan 1st or rather perhaps I should have said 211 on hand and 127 out on sale, some of which have undoubtedly been disposed of. In taking the books that I did from the house I did nothing but what I thought was right for I felt that I was the one to look after them as I had obligated myself to the amountAs Written:am't of 170$Editorial Note: $170 in 1877 is equivalent to $4,738.24 in 2022. and the books and plates were what I had to show for it. It is true that I have not done right by you in not reporting once a month the progress made in the sales. I do not know as this case admits of any excuse but I kept hoping that there might be something better to state. I wish the books sold and would gladly have the Dr. or anyoneAs Written:any one you might sanction take the same if you think best as it undoubtedly is I have taken the copyright out of the safe for I had thought that if I was agoing into practice I should need to feel that I was free from all except what directly pertained thereto I told the Dr I should like to see you perhaps ten minutes and this was one of the subjects I had wished to speak about or see how it could be arranged the other was as I had told him that I was willing to act just as you thought best in regard to the practice
