Received As Written: Recieved your kind letterEditorial Note: This letter is not extant. yesterday, From your notice in Journal of Feb' 17" I see I am not eligible to the Normal, I do want all I can get from your College And that will necessitate taking the primary there

I did not know of you or your work "I had heard of the faith cures at Boston for some years" Until last Oct, When I received your Journal, that had the publication headed "Pro Bono Publico"Editorial Note: See “Pro Bono Publico” by Mary Baker G. Eddy on page 102 of the July 1886 issue of The Christian Science Journal. I sent for your book Science And HealthEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. read it 3 times through and was in Mr Filberts Class Jan last 1887 And am treating from 15 to 26 patients Per day, One skeptical lady told a friend of mine that "the town had become wild over Christian ScienceAs Written:C. S."

One question I would like to ask. Are the Christian Science Colleges advertised in your Journal, the same as yours? Or Do they only make healers as Mr Filbert does? And not teachers, several have asked me about them, and I could not answer them.

Mr Filbert wrote me that he made healers but Mrs Eddy alone made teachers, I infer from that, that they only make healers, am I correct? I am the only scientistEditorial Note: Christian Scientist, here as far as I know.

One point I wish you to know, my reading of the bible has been mostly the new testament having never read the old through but once in my life, I fear I should not be a very apt scholar, I tried to read from the beginning As Written: begining after I had your keyEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy & I find it very interesting, But I have only read into Exodus, I have been so situated it has been impossible for me to read the bible or your book unless I should read after midnight, or earlier As Written: eailier in the morning than I am in the habit of arising I had sent to the Journal for two No, of the monthly to be sent to my address. (Besides the yearly subscription I had sent for, in Dec', last)— When I sent for the last Doz of Science & Health But I have not received all, only the one March No, that came when your letter did I thought I should prefer 3 Nos, monthly to having all of one kind By the DozenAs Written:d Doz

Please find enclosed As Written: inclosed draft of $32Editorial Note: $32.00 in 1887 is the equivalent of $1,056.05 in 2024., For 1), one doz Science & Health, And $2.00Editorial Note: $2.00 in 1887 is the equivalent of $66.00 in 2024. worth of Journals, And small books, such as you think best for distribution

Do you have missionary teachers? That would teach a class here if I cannot. There are no more paying patients than I can treat. But so many that cannot pay. I can't As Written: cant possibly treat all if some rich ones would learn they might help the poor, I have treated all alike so far But I have more than I can do possibly.

11:30. P. M. I am tired in belief, if I have not wearied you, hoping I have not I remain

Lovingly
Yours for Truth
