Accession: 362.48.019
Editorial Title: David Austin to Mary Baker Eddy, September 21, 1882
Author: David Austin
Recipient: Mary Baker Eddy
Date: September 21, 1882
Manuscript Description: Handwritten by David Austin on lined printed stationery of the Law Office of E. K. Phillips and sent from Lynn, Massachusetts.
Editorial Note: Austin says he has received Mary Baker Eddy's letter dated September 20, 1882 (not extant). He tells her that he has not yet collected rent from Mr. Breed, who is usually a week or two days behind. Austin will forward the money to Eddy as soon as he receives it. Eddy's reply to his last letter was not definite enough for Austin to know if she wants to sell her property at 439 Boston Street, Lynn, Massachusetts. He warns Eddy that the offer could be withdrawn at any time, and he wants a definite answer from her as to whether or not to accept the offer. He also has an offer for $300 ($7,568.87 in 2016) from someone who wants to purchase 50 running feet of the land at the rear of Eddy's 439 Boston Street property. That would shorten her lot, and since he does not know its size, he cannot advise her about this proposal.
