Accession: 369.49.002
Editorial Title: Mary F. Berry to Mary Baker Eddy, July 16, 1883
Author: Mary F. Berry
Recipient: Mary Baker Eddy
Date: July 16, 1883
Manuscript Description: Handwritten by Mary F. Berry on embossed lined paper from Manchester, New Hampshire.
Editorial Note: Berry thanks Mary Baker Eddy for inviting her to a picnic, which Berry assumes that by now has already taken place. Most of Berry's letter concerns a Miss Brooks who became interested in Christian Science and wanted Berry to teach her. Berry told Brooks she should go to Eddy for instruction, but since Brooks insisted that Berry teach her, Berry gave her four lessons. Then Brooks left without paying Berry and has set herself up as a Christian Science healer somewhere in New York, even though she doesn't really comprehend much of Christian Science. Berry has heard that Brooks has been to see Eddy, and she warns Eddy not to give Brooks one lesson until she pays. In the rest of the letter, Berry describes to Eddy a couple of cases she is treating through prayer as a Christian Science healer.
