Dear Mrs. Bell:

I do not know whether you expected me Monday or not to study with you - I have no idea what Mr. W— has said to you about me or what impression he has left on your mind; and as long as I did not know I considered it best not to come - It was he who first asked me to introduce him to you & then he took matters into his own hands - he has done the same with the patient he took from me by the most subtle means in the world - I have left the office, for I could not stay there any longer with himEditorial Note: James M. Whitehead shared an office and healing practice with Isabella A. Beecher and Mary Hinds Philbrick., though I am responsible for two months rent to come, $50Editorial Note: $50.00 in 1886 is the equivalent of $1,376.66 in 2020.. I am studying at home now and am happy in scienceEditorial Note: Christian Science - have receivedAs Written:rec'd a letter from Mrs. Eddy which has given me great encouragement.
