Editorial Title: Eldridge J. Smith to Mary Baker Eddy, December 14, 1881
Author: Eldridge J. Smith
Recipient: Mary Baker Eddy
Date: December 14, 1881
Manuscript Description: Handwritten by Eldridge J. Smith on lined paper stamped with Smith's main address from Washington D.C.
Editorial Note: Smith is responding to Eddy's letter, dated December 12, 1881 (not extant). He is grateful that the matter Eddy wished him to attend to meets with her approval, and he is glad that he has been of some little service to her. He asks if Eddy is thinking of visiting Washington D.C. soon, and he hopes that they will see much of her when she does. Smith hopes that he can sometime rest from his efforts to improve his financial condition and cultivate his immortal and spiritual side. He writes that it may be wrong to be absorbed in worldly business and says that he feels a decided spiritual leanness. He would like to be gaining a knowledge of the science of life more than anything else. He and his wife send love to Eddy and her husband.
