Accession: 382.50.020
Editorial Title: Eldridge J. Smith to Mary Baker Eddy, March 25, 1883
Author: Eldridge J. Smith
Recipient: Mary Baker Eddy
Date: March 25, 1883
Manuscript Description: Handwritten by Eldridge J. Smith on lined printed stationery of the Elastic Chair Company from Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
Editorial Note: Smith has received Mary Baker Eddy's letter (not extant) dated March 20, 1883. He regrets he is not currently in Washington, D.C., to meet Eddy's lawyer. Smith has taken a partner into his business, who, as he becomes established, is intended to take over its operations. This will free up Smith's time to more fully serve the cause of Christian Science. In a postscript, Smith says that he cannot believe that the Librarian of Congress is in collusion with Edward J. Arens. (Perhaps Eddy may have suggested this in her letter to Smith.)
