Dearly Beloved
Dear Teacher:

I am but a short time returned from a Western trip in settling and arranging my business matters. Am happy in informing you that it is nearly arranged – at least is agreed upon & papers signed – still, it will require some more time for me to settle up my affairs here –

I will not attempt a letter now – only will say I feel full of hope and courage that that which my soul so longs after is to be governed to do – that is to labor in that which will give me joy, power, blessing; - an occupation in which I can put forth all the Energies of my spirit which so far in my life journey have never been utilized As Written: utalized .

My dear wife grows in strength and power and she joins with me heart and soul.

Will write you again soon – this is only a hasty greeting from your affectionate student
E. J. Smith
