Dear Mrs Eddy.

Words cannot express my disappointment at not being able to fulfill my engagement with you. I received a letterEditorial Note: This letter is not extant. from my husband from Chicago, stating that you had sent on for us, to be in Boston by Feb. 1st. to begin the class. In the first place the letter did not reach me as soon as it ought, then I was going to telegraph to him, and something went wrong with it, so I sent him one todayAs Written:to day, that I could not go now.

When I first came out to Chicago, I was asked to go to Wichita Kansas to heal a patient I sent word that I would go for two weeks and see them. They did not conclude to have me then, but two week ago todayAs Written:to day I received a dispatch asking me to come here. So I started that night and arrived here Saturday night. It is 4 days going from here to Boston. My two weeks are not up here until Saturday night then I could not get to Boston in time. If they had been willing I would have started last night for Boston. I thought when I left Chicago that the Students were thinking the end of February was the time you were going to teach them.

This is such a trial to me not to go, for I long to know all I can of ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science. I don’t like to break my word. I was all ready to go on, but none of the others were ready to go then.

God bless you in the work of teaching this new class. I will wait as patiently as I can the time when I can join one of your classesEditorial Note: Colman in the end was able to attend Mary Baker Eddy’s Normal Class that began on February 16, 1885..

Your loving student
Janet T. Colman.
