Accession: 485.55.011
Editorial Title: George W. Chase to Mary Baker Eddy, January 12, 1880
Author: George W. Chase
Recipient: Mary Baker Eddy
Date:
Manuscript Description: Handwritten by George W. Chase on lined paper from Newburyport, Massachusetts.
Editorial Note: Chase tells Mary Baker Eddy that one of his patients has given him some manuscripts. They were given to the patient by Sarah Bagley, who told the patient they were Phineas Quimby's manuscripts. Chase wonders if they might actually be copies of Eddy's own manuscripts. They contain questions and answers, just as Eddy's manuscripts do. Chase asks Eddy if Quimby ever had manuscripts, as he had heard from Eddy that Quimby did not write about, or teach others, his method of healing. Chase has heard a lot about Quimby's beliefs and has always contradicted them. He looks forward to hearing from Eddy on this subject.
