Accession: 488.55.001
Editorial Title: Thaddeus P. Dole to Mary Baker Eddy, February 11, 1881
Author: Thaddeus P. Dole
Recipient: Mary Baker Eddy
Date: February 11, 1881
Manuscript Description: Handwritten by Thaddeus P. Dole on lined stationery, with an embossed insignia in the top left corner, from Bangor, Maine.
Editorial Note: Dole is writing to Eddy to ask if there is help and cure for him through Christian Science treatment. He says that a friend of his, who was thought to be past help, has been under the care of Christian Scientist George W. Chase and is now nearly well. Dole has been suffering from chronic inflammation of the bladder for the last two years, and so his friend suggested that he might be helped through Christian Science as well. Dole asks if cases like his have been treated successfully and how long it takes to tell if one can be helped. He asks specifically if the one being treated needs to have faith. At the end of the letter, he asks that Eddy reply as soon as possible.
