Dear friend for some time I have desired to write you, until I feel that I can no longer refrain from doing so. For years I have been a disbelieverAs Written:dis believer in drugs as a curative agent and believed God was the only physician. But I groped my way like a blind man, until a few weeks ago. I learned of your books Science and HealthEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, and obtained them. The perusal of them has been like a beautiful rain upon the parched earth, and an ardent desire has been kindled in me to know more of the ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science that I may be able to labor in my mastersEditorial Note: Jesus Christ vineyard. “ The harvest is great but the laborersAs Written:lavorers are fewMatt 9:35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. Matt 9:36 ¶But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Matt 9:37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Matt 9:38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest. Luke 10:1 After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. Luke 10:2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. ” I have been told that your students could teach as well as you, but have reasons to believe otherwise. And I should wish so to labor that I should not bring a reproach upon the causeEditorial Note: The cause of Christian Science.. I have made inquiries of one of your students what the expenseAs Written:expence of board would be at the College during a course of studies but she did not know. My meansAs Written:meanes are very limited yet feeling so intense to desire to obtain the instructions that I feel can be obtained only at the College I write to ask what sum you could furnish me with instructions and board for? as I am a stranger in Boston I should wish to board at the College. I feel your answer will be given in wisdom and if I am not permitted to obtain the instructions I so much desire now on account of financial circumstances I shall not cease to laborAs Written:lavor until my desire is obtained.
May God speed the causeEditorial Note: The cause of Christian Science..
