Dear Mrs. Eddy;

I am sure that you will be glad to hear of the advance "Christian Science" is making in Chicago and while you may perhaps have heard all that I have to tell you, the account is pleasant enough to bear a second reading.

The "Church of Christ" (Scientists) of Chicago is now an incorporated organization with thirty charter members. I think the prospects are good for the permanence As Written: permanance of the organization and for its existence as one of the features of Chicago. All depends upon the faithfulness, liberal mindedness and harmonious action of its members.

I do not think that there is a better chance throughout the United States for the establishment of a permanent "Christian Science" church, than right here in Chicago, provided that the individuals organizing such, have within themselves individually and collectively, the elements of growth and perpetuity. I am told that we have nearly $100.00Editorial Note: $100.00 in 1886 is the equivalent of $3,113.36 in 2022. per month subscribed so far for its maintenance. A board of trustees five in number, have been elected, viz. Miss Brown, Mrs Bell, Mrs. Larminie, Mrs Noyes and Mr. Hall. Rev. Mr. Day is elected pastor, and I am honored by the appointment of Secretary of the organization. I can assure you that I shall do my best to promote the cause of "Christian Science" both by precept and example, in private and in public capacity, as I always have done ever since I first comprehended it.

We have not as yet determined upon the by-laws of the society which, of course, should be done as soon as possible. To further that object, will you kindly forward to me a copy of those adopted by the Boston society? If you would like to hear from me more of the details, or in regard to other Chicago affairs, I shall be glad to tell you anything As Written: any thing I can. Hoping to hear from you soon and to receive the copy of the by-laws as soon as possible,

I am
Yours Gratefully
