Accession: 563.59.001
Editorial Title: C. F. Morrill to Mary Baker Eddy, January 15, 1884
Author: C. F. Morrill
Recipient: Mary Baker Eddy
Date: January 15, 1884
Manuscript Description: Handwritten by C. F. Morrill on lined printed stationery of the Cook County Sunday School Association from Chicago, Illinois. This letter also includes a pencil notation in the handwriting of Mary Baker Eddy.
Archival Note: Morrill mistakenly wrote 1883 as the year on this January letter; however, based on the contents of the letter the date should be 1884.
Editorial Note: Morrill tells Mary Baker Eddy of being restored to health through receiving Christian Science treatment through prayer from Bradford Sherman and Martha Sherman in Chicago. He has also benefited by studying Eddy's book, Science and Health, and reports on some successes in practicing Christian Science healing. However, he feels that he could do better if he could study with Eddy in Boston and then return to Chicago to practice and teach Christian Science on a solid basis. Morrill also reports that a Chicago resident who went to Boston to study with Edward J. Arens has recently returned to Chicago and is influencing people against Eddy. Eddy notes on the letter, in pencil, that she answered it on January 23. Her answer is not extant.
