Archival Note: This letter includes a notation that Eddy answered the letter on January 6, 1883,
but her answer is not extant.
Editorial Note: Weller tells Mary Baker Eddy that she has been giving Christian Science treatment
through prayer for four weeks to a woman with heart disease. Weller describes the
woman's symptoms and says she appears to be near death. The woman is considering turning
to medicine and Weller asks Eddy whether or not she should drop the case. Others are
watching to see what the result of Christian Science treatment on the woman will be,
and the woman's doctor is skeptical that Christian Science can help her.
