Dear Mrs Eddy:

Your letterEditorial Note: This letter is not extant. receivedAs Written:rec'd Christmas day, and words can scarcely express my joy. It was the best Christmas gift I ever had.

Since writing to you I have made several remarkable demonstrations, have been perfectly successful in all I have undertaken except the case of the little deaf girl, Lena Choat. Her parentsEditorial Note: The parents of Lena M. Menzies (b. Choate) were Charles N. Choate (1854-1933) and Mary Anne Choate (b. Ransom) (1854-1910). are very unbelieving and that is the only reason that I see that she should not hear perfectly plain.

She can hear some but does not improve as I had expected. I think If she could come to her hearing suddenly they would believe. Can you not help me? If you would I should never cease to be gratefulAs Written:greatful.

I hope that I shall soon see you face to face. I thank you for your kind offer, it is fully appreciated I assure you.

Will you inform me when your first primary of next year begins?

I had not intended to practice here in my own VillageEditorial Note: Luther, Michigan but the patients keep coming and the "leaven"Matt 13:33 ¶Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.
