In the first place I was very much interested in your scienceEditorial Note: Christian Science, I have studied your booksEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. faithfully and prayerfully and through them have rec’dAs Written:received understanding – many things which have always perplexed me have been made perfectly clear. My faith in God and healing through him has been increased – I could say volumes but will not take up your precious time. Suffice it to say I consider myself As Written: my self cured. I then commenced treatment in my own family and they are also such, This being known, there were others who came to me, they were poor and suffering and had no means of paying those who were practicing for money. I treated them without remuneration and are still doing so. I have relieved and feel that I can cure them as well as my own family – I feel it my duty to do the best I can for all who come. Now others have asked for treatment who are able to pay – feeling that I can be successful in keeping them I wish to ask your advice before going further in this matter, as I have not taken a regular course with you – only through your BooksEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. & journals, - I am particular in asking this and hope you will give me an Early reply, as I am almost daily asked for help from some source, I am strictly conscientious As Written: concientious in this matter and wish to continue doing all the good I can but do not wish to call my treatment “Mrs Edy’s Mind Cure” if you should find objections, for the reason I have not taken a course of instruction in your class… I should have been most happy to do so from the first but have not been financially so situated that I could – Neither do I feel I can turn poor appearing humanity from my door if I can help them, and yet I am not so situated as to give my time & rates to those who are able to pay – what would you advise? –
