If it be possible I wish to learn more of this Grand ScienceEditorial Note: Christian Science you have made it possible through your books to learn something. I have practiced medicine in this City since - 1869. For many years I have been convinced that diseases depended largely As Written: largly upon the attitude of the mind of the patient. I was led through a student of Dr S J Sawyer of this city to investigate Christian Science. I read your first edition of Science & HealthEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy more recently have read the late edition with prayerful care. I have tried to open my soul to the influx of divine As Written: devine light & life. I now feel desirous to go on in the path I feel that is leading me onward and upward. Dr Sawyer gives lectures here a few of which I have heard. But this Great good was given to the world through Woman, and I want to have it interpreted to me through a woman's As Written: womans mind. And Mrs Eddy if it be possible I want to go to you My circumstances are just this way at present. I have an invalid husbandEditorial Note: John N. Ford (1829-1889). who has been paralyzed Nine years an aged MotherEditorial Note: Elizabeth Tompkins (b. Storms) (1802-1888). whom As Written: whome also I have to care for. I am nearing 60 years of age, but am in perfect health. Have done very well and have a comfortable home earned by myself for my dependent ones, but when Dr Sawyer gave me the figures (for I told him plainly of my earnest desire) I said "I fear I cannot meet it for some years yet." And I said that night when I finished your "Creation" and read the last sentence "Even in this world, therefore let your garments be always white" Amen. I will go on in the search for Truth But my desire is so great that I have felt moved to write and ask you If upon examination and proof you find I am a worthy woman (for I have lived here since 1857 and practiced Medicine since 1869) - you will give me some special rates whereby I may go to Boston and attend your lectures the following June; Dr J L Dudley a former Pastor of Plymouth Congl Church of which I was then a member, and who filled Theo Parker's As Written: Parkers pulpit in Boston some years since, knows me well, and many I think would satisfy you that what I ask of you would be fully appreciated. God bless you for all you have given me already and given too, to all who seek the Truth
