Your noteEditorial Note: This note is not extant. in regard to a new class to commence the study of scienceEditorial Note: Christian Science the 20. instantAs Written:inst. is at hand.

When I spoke with you about studying I told you, if you remember that I had been trying for a year to see my way clear to enter a class, but had not been able to save a dollar towards it.

You told me then you would enter my name for your next class. On what terms you did not say. I am not able to pay, I very much regret to say, and my family are so much opposed to me in the matter that they would not help me if they were able. I want to study with no one but yourself am anxious to do good work and pioneer work. While I am very anxious to study and delighted with the near prospect of it, yet I want to know all about the matter before I enter upon it. Again, my school is in session will be for eleven weeks more. My committee may refuse to allow me to put in a substitute for that time. I shall lay the matter before them in as earnest a manner as possible trying to gain the ear of the soul and their consent. If they refuse, I don’t know how I can accept your kind offer as the few dollars I earn now before long vacation must supply all my support for four months. Will you kindly write me a line and answer me if you take me as a charity pupil. I am particularly anxious to study in this class as I have some reason to suppose that my Pastor. Rev. O. P. Gifford is to join the class. Trusting that all will be well and “work together for good", and thanking you for your kind remembrance of me I am

Very sincerely yours
L. Pauline Holbrook
