Editorial Note: Weld writes that he has heard from his niece, Henrietta E. Day, some assertions made by "Mrs. S" (possibly Rebecca Stackpole) that Day is a disgrace to her family, and that she dresses and acts the way she
does in order to attract gentlemen. Weld strongly refutes these assertions.
