Dear Sister:

Dictated. I am just issuing a circular that will be mailed to 10.000 advertisers, which circular will mention the fact that we handle all the books on this science, from our office; furthermore, I am issuing another extensive circular, with names of books we carry in stock. It occurs to me that the business demands of me that I must find out of you whether we handle your book in future; or not. Of course I can sell a large, number of them, but do not wish to advertise them if you wish me not to handle them. I think we had better be frank with each other about it. I will wait the publication of above, hoping to hear from you. If, however, I do not get word, with your offer to me, by the dozen, I shall have to issue the circular, and omit "Science & Health,"Editorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy because I will infer [*]Archival Note: The following text was later added to the document by another annotator, disrupting the surrounding thought.Handshift:Calvin A. Frye We never sanctioned circular to fill orders for the time, we now ask that to remove all notice of the work from your publication [*]Archival Note: End floating text.Handshift:A. J. Swarts that you do not wish me to handle it in which case, of course, I do not wish to advertise it, as it will put me in a false light to my customers.

It may be you felt that I was getting them too low, and possibly I was, but as I advertise them all the while, and mention them in the circulars, as above, it seems as if you would allow me a little more than to ordinary dealers. I can hear your best offer, however, that you can afford, and then I will decide accordingly. I really think that you had better arrange with me to handle them, because I advertised them heavily after Mr- Frye and you, last July, sanctioned my handling them. I would not be understood as urging this matter, but simply as presenting it to you in the light that it seems to present itself all around. I kindly ask you to please be prompt in your reply to this, as I cannot hold publication of circulars much longer, and cannot include your work in them without your permission and offer- So please let me know,

and oblige -
