SCIENCE AND ECHO.
Five times ten are fifty. This is science. echo answers five times ten are fifty. This is science . The first statement is true and the latter is untrue Why? Because one the first one is Science and demonstrates Truth the last is not Science it is echo and it demonstrates a lie demonstrates Science and truth the other repeats science. Five times ten are sixty. This is neither science nor echo. Why? Because one word has made the mighty differentia.

History shows that "Science and Health" was the first work ever published which stated what claimed to be Christian Science Mind-healing and named the Principle of this Science, God and as infallible As Written: infalible and demonstrable as mathematics. That stated God as Divine Principle, individual and Supreme Being hence He can be known, served, and loved only through As Written: throught the Science of Principle that gave the unerring rule of divine Science and the application of this rule to remove disease and death which demonstrates the Principle that renders null and void all sorrow, sickness sin and mortality. That stated all is Mind and the demonstration of this scientific statement is scientific being that resolves all phenomena into harmony with God, Spirit. That man in science is immortal and the universe of Spirit co-existent and eternal with God, unfallen and perfect even as the Father. Hence that matter and mortal man are temporary illusions of the sense and the error that saith I am Truth.
But Truth never said that error is Truth and Truth is Spirit and Spirit is Truth hence its antipodes, matter is the lie that saith I am matter and a mortal man. Jesus said of this error "the Truth abode not in youJohn 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. ". A book that gave the first statement of a divine Science healing the sick, reforming the sinner, that robs the grave of its prey. A book whose statements demonstrated heal the sick and save from sin.
Whose statements repeated and not demonstrated are echo. A book whose statements are misstated As Written: mistated however slightly lose the science of immortal Mind-healing and healing on another basis are animal magnetism. Science has but one statement one demonstration one School. Any divergence from this is a departure from Science. Our regular physicians have proven their ability to heal for centuries, if healing means to destroy the symptoms of disease, and I regard the value of skillful surgery and philanthropic medical practice as incomparable with the charlatanism and infidelity of the present false systems of mind cure, occultism, mesmerism, mediumship, and Theosophy. I had rather that myself or my best friend would die according to belief than to live according to Animal Magnetism, Hence no mercenaryAs Written:mercinary motive influences me to cry out against such a method of so-called healing. Jesus said "Fear ye not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hellMatt 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. ."
The disparity between the healing of Christian Science and that of the so-called new schools is that of between God's healing and mortal man's healing the immutable and immortal facts and laws of science and the mutable and mortal belief of the senses. A novice or one who knows nothing of it may think a daub in bright colors equal to an artistic work of the masters and that sounds caught by the ear are occasionally better suited to harmony than the science of music. A true Christian Scientist knows well and can detect the infinite distance between compliance with a demand of the senses or strict obedience to Science that forbids this concession. One throws out science and prevents or perverts demonstration. The other cleaves to a perfect Principle and proves it.
Their relation to Christian Science is like a man's relation to morality who steals in private and gives in public, who calls what he steals his own counterfeits the true coin, and on the merits of the genuine coin gets his spurious currency into circulation and takes people's money for it.
Those who are ignorant of Christian Science Mind-healing comment thus, "The difference between Christian Science Mind-healing and mind cure is superficial. The main points are substantially the same." Another says "The differentia that is so apparent to Mrs. Eddy, does not exist. Mental Scientists, mind curers, mesmerists, mediums, theosophists are all mind healers and actuated by philanthropy and they accomplish much good, even heal cases that Christian Science is unsuited to heal. This class virtually say that science is fallible, else that it loses intrinsic qualities by being Christian, for it is self-evident that nothing in the line of healing can supplant the science.
The highest demonstration of Christian Science Mind-healing since the days of the apostles has been made according to the Principle and practice laid down in Science and Health. This I know from my own demonstrations were strictly in accordance with the system therein stated.
The School that explains intelligently and demonstrates unmistakablyAs Written:unmistakebly in Science the efficacy of the Principle involved gives all that can be given as a foundation for enlightenment. The only new school or advanced footstep from this School must be one that adheres implicitly to the teachings of the Alma Mater and adds to them its own discoveries of something beyond it upon the same Principle. The new school that discerns and demonstrates the entire science contained in Science and Health will heal instantaneouslyAs Written:instantaniously, never a case of disease will relapse and it will heal every case of disease. Science and Health shows the power of Truth to heal beyond what I have demonstrated and my demonstration before the very age and that can say whether it has been surpassed. When a school calls itself new, and depends for all it teaches correctly on the old school, is new only in folly or fraud, which are no improvement on Science.
