Beloved Students:
Please convene at once and act on this By-lawEditorial Note: See L00832A. This bylaw pertained to Eddy calling students to work at Pleasant View and requested that any church member called to work in her household should go within thirty days to stay and work for a period of twelve consecutive months. then inform me thereof and publish in our Manual. A word as to its origin. When a nation defends itself against wrong it is sometimes driven to accomplish this struggle through its army.
Our causeEditorial Note: The cause of Christian Science needs defence and its principal fort needs fortification. I now call soldiers to supply this need, defend this fort, and the officer within it working for her Church, the field, and the world.
When a nation needs more soldiers it necessarily drafts them. I have come to this necessary call for Christian Scientists to hold our fort in God's service. I gladly pay them for their service and give mine; my only sigh is that these soldiers of the cross have not been volunteers.
