I see with the vision of a Seer that this style which I object to is pushed before the public to lessen the shame of Peabody's attack. Now if we go and do likewiseLuke 10:37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise. it will give our enemies all the advantage over us.

Take the tone of my last MessageEditorial Note: Message to The Mother Church for 1902 for your guidance. Reason with the dear man Mr. Keene and tell him my objections and what I foresee. His style of attack and pugilism is just the opposite of Christian Science wisdom and will be used as a wedge to split apart the pacification of my Message, and serve as a challenge to further abuse from the press and churches. I advise you to stop the whole thing and not circulate the pamphletEditorial Note: Keene had written a manuscript titled Christian Science and Its Enemies. Eddy initially endorsed it after some excerpts were shared with her. However, after reading the full article she found that other parts were not in line with a Biblical view of how to treat one's enemies and asked that he tone down some of his attacks in the article. for the above reasons
