My very dear Students

Again and oft again have I said today I will answer the letters so precious to me. But before I could look over my orders of that day for books, calls, my class of 12, evening meetings, lectures, articles to be written for paper, — Bible lesson for Sunday — all, all demanded me and when met make me too perplexed too mind worn often to think — so I would give up writing and at a late hour would crawl into bed to toss all night and half asleep give directions on business cares that concerns the good causeEditorial Note: The Cause of Christian Science The finances I have no time to consider

A long string of complaints for a letter, only think of it! Just what I feared under the circumstances

God, good, be thine New Years blessings fall richly and the light of the hour overshadow you with divine Science

Your assurance to quit nothing and begin the great something of life filled me with rejoicing As if I knew (when I have not time to think of you) what you were concluding I have fought the good fight over the paper and kept it for you and me

God told me to do this I did it Now come and we will make the Journal of Science a beacon light and a paying enterprise for the laborer should have his hireMatt 10:5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not. Matt 10:6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Matt 10:7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Matt 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. Matt 10:9 Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, Matt 10:10 Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat. Luke 10:1 After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come. Luke 10:2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. Luke 10:3 Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves. Luke 10:4 Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way. Luke 10:5 And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house. Luke 10:6 And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again. Luke 10:7 And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house. Luke 10:8 And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you: Luke 10:9 And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. I Tim 5:17 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. I Tim 5:18 For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward. Yesterday was our Annual Meeting of the Christian Scientist Association They loaded me with praise but certain gentlemen members tried to get the paper into their hands after I had done the work for it one year without a dollar

I beat them as usual my lady members clapped A gent from the West who is a pupil in my present class I had a metaphysical victory having made nothing of all their arguments and shown that the dear old Association had no intention to interfere with my work.
