My dear friend

Your sweet letterEditorial Note: See 032A.12.005. at hand.

I am sensible of the zeal and good works of dear Mrs. Stetson and you. But none can know my necessity to reprove, rebuke, exhortII Tim 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. , but the loving Father and Mother of us allEditorial Note: God. You all are babes in Truth and Love and the older you are the more the Mother sees to love, and to reprove. Why? because you attempt more, and each endeavor is an experiment with a student; whereas it is an old and proven effort with me and I know just how it will come out.

The danger to the student is popularity and power, self-seeking As Written: selfseeking instead of self-abasement As Written: selfabasement I have washed their feet and continue to do thus, and they must wash one anothers feetJohn 13:3 Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God; John 13:4 He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself. John 13:5 After that he poureth water into a basin, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded. John 13:6 Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet? John 13:7 Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter. John 13:8 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. John 13:9 Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head. John 13:10 Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all. John 13:11 For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean. John 13:12 So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you? John 13:13 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. John 13:14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet. John 13:15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. John 13:16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. John 13:17 If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them. instead of elbowing each other, or they never can follow the example of our ExemplarEditorial Note: Jesus Christ

Now dear one, I write this to help you on your pilgrimage that you mistake not your way and go backward for a time. Through Science and HealthEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy ― God has made me the way shower for this period and all future time. I must be faithful, to this awful trust even if it should cost me every friend on earth.

And if you all follow where God points then, I, not you, will bear the burden of the way. Also if I am faithful, daring all for Christ, I shall bear the cross without fainting, this time.

Lovingly Yours
Mary B G Eddy

P. S.

I forgot to say that the proper and right way of doing th e business of which you wrote was― For Mrs. Stetson to have told the applicant for extracts from S. & H.Editorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy to address the Author and given him my place of residence

But darling Stetson is eager and will mistake, and then recover her way on, on.
