Diana of Ephesus was the Roman name for the Greek goddess Artemis. The Temple of Artemis was a large temple constructed of marble and one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. In 1902, Eddy had requested that branch churches adopt or adapt the new bylaw limiting Readers terms to three years, as was now the practice for The Mother Church. This meant that Stetson was no longer serving as First Reader of First Church of Christ, Scientist, New York, New York, a role she had held for many years.
