I ask that you unite on the hour and twice each day pray for the Congress of our nation both the members of the House and Senate. Also that you ask Mrs Munroe Mrs. Knapp and Mrs Hana to unite with you at these special times in prayer that they the members see the error of making war with Spain and the wisdom of settling this vexed question amicably. Get as many more to assist and join you as you please who are capable of doing this. I request that Mr. Albert Metcalf and Judge Hanna take the PresidentEditorial Note: William McKinley (1943-1901) was the 25th president of the United States. He served from 1897 until 1901, when he was assassinated. A notable event of his presidency was the United States’ engagement in the Spanish-American War of 1898, by which it gained sovereignty over the territories of Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Philippines and asserted itself as a major world power for the first time. into their prayers to encourage and support him in firm resistance to going to war and in the understanding that God will show him the way to make or maintain peace between the U.
