Accession: L03923
Editorial Title: Mary Baker Eddy to Sarah O. Bagley, December 20, 1871
Author: Mary Baker Eddy
Recipient: Sarah O. Bagley
Date: December 20, 1871 - archivist estimate
Manuscript Description: Handwritten by Mary Baker Eddy on lined paper from Lynn, Massachusetts.
Archival Note: An archivist note on this document reads, "Probably written late in 1871. This letter was faint and the writing had to be traced. There was some doubt about pencil-scored words." The date of this letter is an archivist estimate, determined by the following considerations: Eddy's student, Samuel Putnam Bancroft, was married in Lynn, Massachusetts, on December 7, 1871 (see second paragraph). This letter discusses setting up annual percentage payments, and Eddy later receives a payment from Bagley in January 1872. (see L08314).

I hope you do not think me neglectful of you beyond the necessity of this. The fact is, I have no time to give I have so much company and so many demands on my moments that I really accomplish very little and am forever busy at work with tongue pen or head

My students are varied in their positions some do well others do not. One has recently been married here in LynnEditorial Note: Samuel Putnam Bancroft was married on December 7, 1871. to a beautiful and worthy young lady Wright is all wrong at present He gave the strongest protestations of admonition for this Science when he was about to leave for the South and has come back and is going over his grand ranting about it with all his little capacity When they told me he said he should ruin this Science here and at the South I told them to tell him to take a bucket and go for the Atlantic ocean and work to empty it and if he succeeded to try his next job on the purpose he declared.
