My dear Student

I feel as if the God of Hosts was with you, to deliver to the people the gospel of the kingdom of Heaven, to open the doors to the captive, and give sight to the blindLuke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, . My joy at having one living student, after these dozen years of struggle, toil and defeat, you at present cannot understand, but will know at a future time when the whole labor is left with you: You have read of Timon As Written: Timmon of Athens, how he learned a lesson of the ant that failed eighty times to carry the grain to the top of her earthly summit and succeeded on the eighty first. Is not my perseverance somewhat of this sort?

I hear bad news, as usual, from Mrs. Kingsbury. The news of Mr Caldwell'sEditorial Note: William Caldwell demise frightened her into a relapse, after all these months of indolence (to quote her own words) "I have no time to study science and as you know of course can make no progress" Is it not disheartening? I now learn who had such a grip on me

I wish the students would read the 4th Chap of Esther 14th verse and see the argument that would heal them all. I will do my work "if I perish I perish"Esther 4:16 ought to give them some inspiration. Mrs K is calling for my bookEditorial Note: Science and Health as they all are; but see if it makes them work one whit the more

An earnest, true motive works harder in the hour of depreciation and darkness such was my beginning, such was yours. God bless you; and He will bless us and carry us through. Let us lean there only; the students make all their mistakes, leaning on me, or working against me.

You are not going to do either, and certainly the result will follow that you will be faithful over a few things, and be made ruler over many but whether the last round in the scientific ladder be achieved in time or eternity it awaits such as mount the two first you know the last, namely, "Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord."Matt 25:14 ¶For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. Matt 25:15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. Matt 25:16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents. Matt 25:17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two. Matt 25:18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money. Matt 25:19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them. Matt 25:20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. Matt 25:21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. Matt 25:22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them. Matt 25:23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. Matt 25:24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: Matt 25:25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. Matt 25:26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: Matt 25:27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. Matt 25:28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. Matt 25:29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. Matt 25:30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. "Put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provisions for the flesh"Rom 13:14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof. "Make you perfect in every good work to do his will"Heb 13:21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well-pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
