Articles of Agreement made this Seventeenth day of April in the year one thousand eight hundred and seventy six, by and between, Mary Baker Glover of Lynn, of the first part; and Daniel H Spofford of Lynn, of the second part; both in the County of Essex, and Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

The said Mary Baker Glover, being the legal owner of the copyright of the book known as "Science and Health," in consideration of the agreement of the said party of the second part, hereinafter contained, hereby agrees with him, that she will license and allow him, and such representatives and assigns as shall meet her approval, but no other party or As Written: partes, unless this license is violated, to print, publish and sell the aforesaid book and any revisions of the same during his natural life.

The said party of the second part, in consideration of the foregoing agreement of the said Mary Baker Glover, hereby agrees with her, that during the continuance of the enjoyment of the exclusive rights herein given him, he will manufacture said book in a workmanlike manner, will keep the market fully supplied with the same, will guarantee a sale of not less than one thousand copies annually, will keep such agencies in kind and amount for the sale thereof as shall best promote the mutual interest of all the parties hereto, and will pay ones to the said Mary Baker Glover, her heirs or assigns upon every copy of said book sold by him, or others for him, a sum equal to ten percent of the net list price of the same, such net list price to be twenty five percent less than the published retail list price, but said sum so to be paid as aforesaid in no case to fall below the rate of fifteen cents for each copy of said book so sold, and no percentage or other sum whatever to be paid on copies given away to the Author, presented to editors and others for the purpose of obtaining reviews and notices, or otherwise to promote the sale of said book.

And the said party of the second part further agrees, that he will on the first day of each calendar month, in every year, render to the said Mary Baker Glover, accounts of all sales made by him, or by others for him under this contract during the month next preceding said first day; and will on the first days of April and October, in each year, pay over to the said Mary Baker Glover, her heirs or assigns, all sum due to her, or them, upon any or all sales made as aforesaid during the six month next preceding said first day of April and October.
