My own dear Alice

Your beautiful card came safely Please accept many thanks for it

I hope you have had a bright and merry Christmas. I shall look forward to much pleasure on having you with me alone for once, so I thought I would tell you that I have learned to day there probably will be a guest from out of town to pass Wed. Night and a part if not all of the next day with us.

Now dear lets try it on Friday and see if that will prove any more lucky I hope it may but I believe luck has left me, if indeed, I ever knew such a thing

I must close. Remember me to your mama and aunt

and all the good folks

Truly as ever your loving friend
