Dear BroEditorial Note: It has long been customary among some Christians to often call each other “Brother” and “Sister.”
I received your letterEditorial Note: This letter is not extant. asking a letter of dismissalEditorial Note: Asa Gilbert Eddy’s letter was apparently asking for dismissal from membership in First Baptist Church, North Oxford, Massachusetts in order to join the Church of Christ (Scientist). On April 12, 1879, Mary Baker Eddy and the members of the Christian Scientist Association voted to organize a church to be named the Church of Christ. By the time the church was chartered on August 23, 1879 it was renamed Church of Christ (Scientist) because a Church of Christ had already been incorporated in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.. We have had no Church meeting since. But we have one next Saturday. I intended from the first to write you to inquire to what church you wish to be dismissed
I was very glad to get your letter to hear you are still living by faith in the Son of GodGal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. - -
Will you be kind enough to write me so I shall get it Saturday. What Church you desire to unite with. We rejoice in all the good our brethren do who remove from us if we must part with them.
