If it will wear as well use in whitingEditorial Note: Whiting is white chalk (calcium carbonate) used to make whitewash or sometimes added to paint to make the paint more opaque. in first coat for $60.00Editorial Note: $60.00 in 1883 is the equivalent of $1,601.53 in 2017.

I received a letter from Mr. C. A. Frye, asking me to look at your House No 443 Boston st, which I have done.

I think it would not be to your advantage As Written: Advantage to put less than three coats of paint on it as it is very dry as you perhaps know.

I will paint the House & Blinds (all wood work except the roof -- ) outside two coats of Paint, furnish labor & stock, including front fence, two coats of paint for $70Editorial Note: $70.00 in 1883 is the equivalent of $1,868.45 in 2017.. (Seventy Dollars) or I will paint it three coats for $100Editorial Note: $100.00 in 1883 is the equivalent of $2,669.22 in 2017.. (One Hundred Dollars.) I could paint it two coats for $60Editorial Note: $60.00 in 1883 is the equivalent of $1,601.53 in 2017.. if you would let me put about half whiting As Written: whiteing in the paint the first coat it will wear well and will fill up the pores of the wood & will look better for two coats of paint.

You will paint the House one color As Written: collor (Buff) & the Blinds Green. I would like to do it for you and will make it look as well as possible for the amount of paint I put on.

I do most of my work myself and do not hire unless I have to.

Yours Respectfully As Written: Resp.
