Dear Student,

I have a request to make of you which is -- Do not talk with my students on the subject of mesmerism. Your views darken them. You would not care to have others directing your patients, and know that I never interfere, even when you treat them incorrectly I go to you, never, to them, and correct you, and as I do to you I only request you to do by me

The one who wrote Science and HealthEditorial Note: Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. knows better than her students can in three hundred years -- what is true concerning the rule of sin and sensualism, which mesmerism is Leave it to her and not impose your ignorance where demonstration, not forgetfulness, is required to meet and to master the error. I tried your theory last summerAs Written:sumer, when like Job I was confused in the awful whirlwind of malice, but like him I learned of God not of my comfortersJob 16:1 Then Job answered and said, Job 16:2 I have heard many such things: miserable comforters are ye all. , the glorious way out of it all. This way is far from what you recommend and which had I pursuedAs Written:persued farther would have ended in a belief of death Your theory is what prevents you from healing your cases sooner and “darkens council by words without knowledge”Job 38:2 Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge? It is my duty to tell you this and sometime here or hereafter you will know I am right: You ought to know better than to oppose your views to mine who have gone leagues beyond this hour; your knowledge only is theory, mine is what? demonstration. I trust you receive this letter as gently and in the same spirit that I received yours last summer I shall keep a duplicate of it so no mistakes be made in reporting it.
